Participating students and teachers will have the opportunity to be selected for all expense paid 10-day trip to Ghana to explore cultural lessons, tours and participate in conflict resolution workshop. CAST BIO

Beatrice Dansowaa Agyare

(Playing Sankofa),

but she likes to be known as Araba Dansowaa. She is a Freelance Performing Artist and a Writer with a particular inclination towards Folk Performances.

She holds a degree in Theatre Arts: School of Performing Arts, in the University of Ghana. She likes to observe, to work with her hands especially in properties and set design and construction, but her true passion lies with everything and anything Folk. She has an interest and a dream to contribute to Education through Art.

Maxwell Esiful

(Playing Muse),

Maxwell Esiful is a 24 year old Determined, passionate and reliable actor with experience working in film and stage production . He is currently a final year theatre arts student majoring in acting at the University of Ghana.He has been in various stage and screen productions including “Tegonni”,”Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again”,”Objection My Lord”,” Attitude ” and more.

Napoleon Mensah

(Playing Mr. Yenkyi),

is a trained Ghanaian actor, and scenic designer from the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana. He is passionate about anything art so he has served on several projects as an actor, voice over artist, poet, stage manager, music director, and set designer. At his own time, he engages himself in pencil drawings and paintings. He has featured in a lot of theatre projects in Ghana and in other international collaborations. Notable among them are The Mansa World (Ghana) and The Zong (Canada).

Magdalene Fynn

(Playing Mrs. Yenkyi),

also known as Nana Afowa I . She is a talented and ambitious individual with broad skills and experience who hails from Elmina and also queen mother of Abura Aboase in the Central Region of Ghana. A key strength is communication, building strong relationships with open minded people in order to deliver the best outputs. She approaches new challenges with an open mind and is committed to learning and self development to consistently achieve the best wherever she finds herself. She is popularly recognized by brands like Onga and Zeepay and has also partaken in stage productions like “The Dilemma of a Ghost”, “Our Husband has Gone Mad Again”, “The Story Ananse Told”, amongst others.

She currently works with Abibigromma Resident Theatre Group of the School of Performing Arts, University
of Ghana and is in charge of the Costume Department.
She loves to sing and teach folk songs.

Catherine Elsie Amoah

(Playing Lester),

(born on 30/09/2001),is a beautiful young lady who is very passionate about the Arts and therefore has love and enjoys what she does when it comes to the performing arts world. She’s a writer, a singer, an actress as well as a costumer, of which she played her part in costuming the biggest production team at the national theatre; The Mansa World.

Miss Amoah has also been in many productions such as; Road to Ruin, The Inspection, Over my Dead Body, Tegonni, Lion and The Jewel, Oro, etc. and has played many different roles that has contributed to the success of the show; during the African women playwright conference, Miss Amoah acted as ‘Linda’ in the story ‘Oh’ which was written by Milizwah , and with that, she was given a certificate of appreciation. Miss Amoah is currently a student in university of Ghana, studying theater Arts and wishes to explore more and learn more.

Ankrah Nii Arday Abass

(Playing Adrian),

also known as Titus is a Ghanaian actor and director. He is currently a final year theatre arts student majoring in directing at the University of Ghana.He has been in various stage and screen productions including “The Sudden Return “Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again”,”Objection My Lord”,”Co-Habits” and more.

Ms. Michelle Maame Serwaa Antwi

(Playing Serwaa),

(born 27th June,2002) a Ghanaian, student of University Of Ghana(Legon), from the School of Performing Arts, alumni of Ghana National College, a Christian, an actress, a good dancer and singer, loves anime and horror movies, has a great personality.

Gerald Kusi Antwi

(Playing Hype-Man),

known by many as Godfada G is a Rapper, Actor and Music Producer from Oyarifa, Accra Ghana who does Rap music in his local language Twi mixed with English and informal English which is ‘Pidgin’. He started music professionally at 12 and began gaining popularity in his neighborhood and school after he was seen performing at gigs and events in schools and his neighborhood and since then he has never failed to give his fans and followers the best of music and performances, now he’s known globally and he’s one of the promising artists who will take Ghana and African music to another level.

Malvin Okyere Boamah

(Senior Technical Project Manager),

28 years of age who was born on 24th May 1994 is an ambitious young man from Tutu Akuapem, eastern region of Ghana. Between 2015 -2020 he went to tertiary school at ALL NATIONS UNIVERSITY, where he studied project management and banking and finance. He loves to be creative in anything he does. He loves photography and graphic designing. Malvin is the Client partnership manager for PLUGIN CORPORATION in Richmond Virginia (RVA ). You can’t mention Malvin Okyere Boamah and not mention his high interest in soccer. In 2017, he was awarded the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER OF JUSTICE LEAGUE in school. He also received an award as the EMINENT FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR 2022.

In 2020, he was handed an ICT LAB project for TRINITY HOME ACADEMY.
With the experience from his past years, he’s growing to become a very good project manager and a team player all because of his versatility.

Sarfo Nyame Enock

(Technology Manager),

is his name and he also got the name “Awaga One” from his working colleague because of his attitude of work in the Film Industry in Ghana.
Since leaving the Senior high school, where he studied General Art, and also as part of the drama class he developed a great passion for Acting and most especially directing, From then he has worked non-stop in the world of stills, film and television as a photographer ,cinematographer and Director of Photography. It is a huge privilege to do this job, which he loves.

Over the years, his work has enabled him to travel extensively throughout the Regions of Ghana, to experience many diverse locations and to observe the inner workings of cultural and natural systems but above all, to meet and work with some pretty wonderful people. His years of experience in the industry has taught him how to produce quality material on the tightest of schedules. He understand the need to work within both budget and timescale without ever compromising the finished integrity of the film.

He has experience working with all formats, from 35mm film to the solid state formats of the Arri Alexa, Red Epic and the likes of 5D, Sony cameras and BlackMagic. He can provide a full kit, including lights and transport for shoots as required. He absolutely love this work and the people he get to collaborate with, perhaps more than anything because it enables him to work so closely with light, both natural and ʻdesignedʼ, to capture the most beautiful images and to tell a real story with his visuals.

He was awarded BEST DANCE VIDEO DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR 2021 Organised by Dance awards Ghana, and also won the CINEMATOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2022 Organised by Great excellence movies award.

Omane- Boadi Emmanuella

(Costume Director),

She goes by the name Omane- Boadi Emmanuella also known as Bella. She is a degree holder in Fashion Design. Bella is Fashion Model and a hair stylist current winner of Missphotomodelghana 2022. Bella is a business owner and the CEO of Prehash Thread. Bella is the costume director for Sankofa Musical where she unleashes her creative genius to support the production via design, production and concepts styles. She loves to sing, dance and read.

Papa Kojo Anamoah-Arthur

(Director & Writer),

is a young playwright, composer, spoken word poet and stage director from Ghana. Born in 2002, the 20-year-old is a Theatre Arts Major in the University of Ghana, Legon. With the stage name “A for Arthur”, he combines different forms of art like poetry, music, drama to create sensational pieces.

He started writing plays at an early age of 12. He and a co-founder of the Aya Production House and together staged their first play “Objection My Lord,” courtroom farce he wrote and directed.

Godson Atsu Sokpor

(Co-Director & Choreographer),

is currently an Assistant Lecturer with the Department of Dance Studies, School of Performing Arts, College of Humanities, University of Ghana, Legon. Atsu Sokpor teaches both theory and practical courses in the Department of Dance Studies. His research areas are: Choreography, Performance Ethnography/Ethnochorelogy, Dance Pedagogy and Traditional Music Composition

Some of his major creative works include a choreography for Elon Performing Arts, USA (Black History Month), Vodaphone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA23) & 2022 Global Citizen Festival Accra for StoneBwoy, UG @ 70 (Choreography) Futunfrans-hybridization of cultures (Choreography), Ade-Ku We- the untold story of our creative ancestors (Choreography), Dynamite- a T.V commercial for Dynamite Energy Drink (Choreography). Godson is the founder of Performing Arts Intercessors and a patron for Aya productions. He is a consultant, an adjudicator and supervisor for various performing arts productions and the related arts forms. Atsu has worked with performing artists such as the late Professor F. Nii-Yartey, (Ghana), Mr. David Akushey Amoo (Ghana), Professor Kumpulainen Seppo (Finland), Serge Aime Coulibaly (based in France), Aida Colmenero Diaz (Spain), Nii Tete Kodjo Boye (based in Japan), Robin Cantrell and Sean Scantlebury of Battery Dance Company (U.S.A). Sokpor has numerous international collaborations to his credit; Kinder festival (Holland) Kabawil.de (Germany), Kpanlogo World Music (Japan), Busan Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (M.B.C Korea), Council on International Educational Exchange, (CIEE Legon- Ghana).

For over ten years, Godson Atsu Sokpor has held Music and Dance workshops centered on the socio-cultural values and philosophies of Ghanaian/ African traditions for several universities from the United States of America (Washington University, Wilfrid Laurier University, Elon University, Centre College, UCLA, UCEAP and others). Godson Atsu Sokpor is a mentor and academic course advisor for various students from the School of Performing Arts

Prof. Bismark Agbemble

(Executive Producer ),

Prof. Bismark Agbemble is an author, entrepreneur, lecturer and corporate executive. Prof. Agbemble is popularly known as “Mr.CEO” who is passionate about developing solutions to solve complex challenges. For nearly 18 years, Mr. CEO has built, led and transforms organizations to achieve breakthrough results in the following areas; entrainment, education and fin-tech. Mr. CEO began his professional career as Vice President -Branch Manager at Bank of America where he developed his expertise in finance and investment banking. In 2015 Mr. CEO founded his own investment firm called Plugin Corporation with strategic partners to manage technical assets within the technology space. In 2019, Plugin Corporation established Plugin Studios after the release of its first independent film called “End Game” discussing Mental Health Challenges facing high school students. In 2023, Plugin Studios will debut its first musical play called “Sankofa” which is produced with hologram effects, as an industry first. Mr. CEO in collaboration with its leadership team are super excited to gift the world with such a musical that tells an authentic Africa story promoting the importance of identity and truth which are universal superpowers.

Disclaimer- One registrant per school and must use school issue email address to complete reservation. After successful registration, Sankofa Project Coordinator will contact you to review the terms and conditions of the program. Package will be mailed to school address within 72 hours of approval. Live discussion dates begin February 1- June 19th 2024 Monday – Friday from 9am to 4pm EST. Total cost for package and one live discussion is $399.99 per registered school.

1. How long is the Sankofa Musical Movie?

1 hour and 30 minutes

2. Can the Live Discussions be done on a separate day?

Yes, its highly recommended that once students have viewed the movie, the school coordinator arranges for the Live Q&A Zoom Discussion but per school coordination both can be done on the same day

3. Is there additional cost to hosting more than one live 30 minutes sessions?

Yes, there is an additional $199.99 per session.

4. Can educators preview the movie musical?

Yes, once the school receives the package, there will be instructions to view the movie and attend a weekly discussion to answer any questions.

5. When will the Live weekly discussion to learn more about the movie for educators take place?

Yes, next year we will release another cultural educational movie musical. Our aim is to provide 54 unique content to promote cultural intelligence.
